Details of Experience:

Gus is a 76 year-old male, retired factory manager, married with children and grandchildren who moved four years ago to Florida to get away from the cold winters and snow. Before his hospitalization, he golfed and enjoyed yard work, carpentry and woodworking. He felt he led a relatively active lifestyle.

Gus was initially admitted to JMC on September 29, 2016 for a procedure resulting in respiratory failure and a significant decline. After 30 days, Gus was then transferred to an Acute LTC for three weeks and followed to a Skilled Nursing Facility. He was admitted to Jupiter Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center on December 6, 2016 on Hospice Service. Gus recently has had notable medical improvement and is now receiving occupational and physical therapy with excellent results. He initially required max assist for transfers and ambulation, and he is now able to walk well over 200 feet using the walker with standby assist.

Gus’ ultimate goal is to return home, which is now very attainable. When asked what he was looking most forward to, his reply was, “to be home with my wife, and cat, Kelsey.”
